New Year's Cleve

Two years in a row may not exactly be a tradition, but if the NFL continues to schedule a New Year's game between the Steelers and the Browns, we may have one.  This was the second year that we got tickets to the game and spent New Year's Weekend in Cleveland, Ohio.  We stayed downtown, which was great because it allowed us to walk to our second home for the weekend East Fourth Street, a collection of a dozen bars and restaurants, and we stopped there three nights of the weekend and visited four different establishments.
This is where we rang in the new year as well, hopping from bar to bar to try to find one that didn't charge a crazy cover charge but wasn't packed tight because it was free.  Well, there weren't a lot of options in between those two, so we went for the latter and squeezed in for a countdown with a fun band and a couple of overly expensive plastic cups of champagne.  To the New Year!

Other activities included a visit to the A Christmas Story House and accompanying museum, a place full of photo opportunities, though the movie trueist in me thought of a dozen more opportunities that they had missed.

We also went to the Great Lakes Science Center where I got to feel just like a mom with an inquisitive little boy.  Eric wanted to play with learn about everything there.  It isn't like I didn't have fun too...I mean, I got to build the St. Louis Arch myself...
Oh, and there was that little football game.  The game wasn't a make-it-or-break-it game for either team, but I feared my earlier brag that I hadn't been to a game that the Steelers lost...and for a while, it looked like I might break my streak.  But the boys came through in the end and through a variety of weathers that we experienced in the four hours we were there, they won the game for me.
